Privacy
SyntaxShelf is a client-side app with no account system. The cheat-sheet content, search, and your favorites and notes all run in your browser. Two optional, privacy-respecting services are described below.
What is stored on your device
Your favorites, personal notes, recent searches, and theme preference are saved in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export a backup file from Settings.
Analytics
If the site is deployed with Cloudflare Web Analytics, it collects aggregate, cookieless page-view metrics (such as page URL, referrer, and country). It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint you, and cannot identify individual visitors. No other third-party analytics or advertising scripts are loaded.
Payments
SyntaxShelf is free to use. An optional Premium upgrade (personal notes and unlimited favorites) is handled by RevenueCat and Stripe. If you purchase, your email and payment details are collected and processed by those providers under their own privacy policies — SyntaxShelf never sees your card details. An anonymous purchase id is stored in this browser so the app can recognise your Premium access on this device.
Offline use
A service worker caches the app so it keeps working without a connection. The cached files are stored by your browser and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings or from the “Clear local data” button in Settings.
Your control
You can export, import, or permanently erase all locally stored data from the Settings page. Clearing your browser data will also remove everything SyntaxShelf has stored.
